Down V Meath Christy Ring Semi Final

Well Folks it looks like the hurlers are coming home to the Ards for the semi-final replay of the Christy Ring. For two long now they have been playing matches away from their rightful home and results have been suffering due to the sheer lack of support and suitability for the travelling teams and fans. Their identity has been lost, young lads growing up have never seen their county hurlers of those boys they watch at their club games. They don't know of hurlers like Magic, Dule, Viper, McCusker, Sheehan, Turley, Conway, Hughes. They may never have seen their county hurlers in a competitive game. This old adage of a true supporter follows their team anywhere can be written off. The supporters won't go as it is simply in their eyes not their home ground and they vote with their feet. County hurling teams like to play in their hurling stronghold, the traditional venues which is the case in many of the other counties in Ireland. This weekend we must change that. We must join together, Crans , Galgets, Ports, Kilclief, Bredagh and the rest must put their differences to one side for one big match, one big show of united support standing side by side with our neighbours in McKenna Park, Ballycran. This is what the hurling supporters have been asking for. The return of the Down team to the Ards. Change your plans, get to the match by hook or by crook, support the hurlers as this will be the tester from the powers to see how our reaction will be to the hurlers coming back. We must get out to McKenna and support them and make it a cauldron for the Meath players, fill the stand, hang over the wire, make noise when our boys enter the pitch, roar our first score and make it a hostile atmosphere as has been the case for our hurlers all year as they travel around the county grounds playing in the NHL and Christy Ring. This is our chance to show our Hurlers that we want them to play here, we want them to be successful and we want them to know that this weekend they will have support, they will have a fire in their belly when they see the crowd in McKenna and they will think, we are here, we are back and we want to win. Men, Women, Children get to McKenna this weekend and support the Down hurlers in their bid to reach the Final of the Christy Ring. That is all for now but you can guarantee a bit more throughout the week. An Dun Abu!!
